The terms and conditions relate to all events run by the Strategic Development Network (SDN), unless otherwise specified by us. The term ‘events’ used throughout these terms and conditions refers to both physical and online events. A link to the terms and conditions will be clearly displayed on all SDN-event booking sites.
The Terms and Conditions relate to SDN event bookings made both online and via our invoicing system via email. When you make a booking, either online or through our invoicing system via email, you agree to these terms and conditions.
When booking
If you are making a booking on behalf of a colleague, please make sure you complete the booking using the details of the delegate(s) attending. Confirmation of booking and all pre-event information will be sent to the delegate’s email address.
SDN CPD is designed for Government funded Training Providers. If you’re not a Government funded Training Provider but are still interested in attending please email events@strategicdevelopmentnetwork.co.uk to discuss your attendance in more detail before booking.
Payment
Credit card payments should be made online – we are unable to take card payments over the phone. An automatic confirmation email will be sent to you upon booking.
We recognise that Local Authorities (and other public sector bodies) are unable to pay via credit card – in these cases we will raise an invoice. If you are not a public sector body and are unable to book via credit card, we are happy to raise an invoice, but please note an additional £15 administration fee will be charged.
Please request an invoice by emailing our events team on: events@strategicdevelopmentnetwork.co.uk. We will reserve the number of places required once we have the details required to raise an invoice for your place(s) and a confirmation email will be sent to you. It is important that your organisation makes every effort to pay the invoice prior to the event. SDN reserves the right to withhold part, or all, of the service relating to the event, should the invoice not be paid.
Events – workshops, conferences, physical events (NOTE: for webinars, please see online events)
For workshops, conferences or other physical events, SDN will send you pre-event information including the full agenda and any venue details at least 3 working days before the event.
SDN reserves the right to cancel, change the content, speakers, date, location or venue, of our events. If the location/venue or date changes, we will notify delegates as soon as possible. If the workshop is cancelled, SDN will contact all delegates as soon as possible to arrange a full refund.
We recommend you do not make travel arrangements until 2 weeks prior to the event, to ensure you do not lose out financially should the event location/venue or date change, or the event be cancelled.
Our facilitators and speakers make every effort to provide the most up-to-date and accurate information possible. It is important however, that you (or your organisation) do not act solely on the information provided by SDN, but also consult government guidance, policy, regulations and rules.
Event cancellations and substitutions
If you need to cancel your booking, you must inform us in writing. Cancellations can only be accepted from the registered delegate.
Where possible, and to ensure you do not lose out financially, we recommend you substitute your delegate place with a colleague, instead of making a full cancellation. We accept substitutions* up until the day of the event. However, where possible, please notify SDN of your replacement at least 5 working days prior to the event.
If you have no alternative but to cancel your booking, the following will apply:
- If your cancellation is received 21 days prior to the event, we will issue a full refund
- If your cancellation is received between 21 and 14 days prior to the event, we will issue a 50% refund (based on the full booking cost, including VAT)
- If your cancellation is received within 14 days of the event, no refunds will be made. We will ensure all slides and materials from the event will be sent to you, where appropriate
Transfers
Please note, our events system does not allow us to transfer your booking to an alternative SDN event.
Event registration
SDN reserve the right to decline your registration should your organisation not meet the criteria as the intended audience. Every event states the intended audience as part of the outline on the SDN website page.
SDN will contact you direct should we believe this to be the case and to discuss your requirements in detail.
Online event’s, courses and recorded resources (e.g. webinars)
For webinars and other online events, joining instructions and any other materials will be emailed to the registered delegate’s email address only 2 working days prior to the online event.
Follow-up emails including resources and recordings (where applicable) will be emailed to the registered delegate’s email address within 5 working days of the online event taking place.
Where applicable recordings of the online event will be available for a limited period for personal viewing (you will be advised of this when booking). Any extension of this limited period at the delegate’s request will be granted only at the discretion of SDN and may incur an additional administration charge.
It is forbidden to broadcast the webinar or share the recording, with anyone other than those who have booked and paid for the service. Should it become clear that webinar content has been shared with other members of staff/teams who have not paid for a place, SDN reserves the right to make additional charges to cover this.
SDN reserves the right to cancel, change the content, speakers and date of our online events. We will notify delegates of change as soon as possible. If the online event is cancelled, SDN will contact all delegates to arrange a full refund.
Our facilitators and speakers make every effort to provide the most up-to-date and accurate information possible. It is important however, that you (or your organisation) do not act solely on the information provided by SDN, but also consult government guidance, policy, regulations and rules. All recorded resources will state when they were last updated.

Delay in completing accredited courses online learning
The majority of our blended learning courses require you to complete online modules and assignments before attending the assessment session. If you fail to complete the required online learning in advance of the assessment day, you will no longer be eligible to attend.
Ineligibility or failure to attend the assessment sessions
The dates for the assessment days are published prior to enrolment on the course and are mandatory to course completion.
Where ineligibility requires us to move you to an assessment day at a later date, you will incur an additional charge of £100 (+VAT), to cover costs. This will be payable before you attend any assessment day. If you have been booked onto an assessment session, and fail to turn up, you will also be charged an additional £100 (+VAT), to cover costs. This also will be payable before you attend.
Transfers for accredited courses online learning
Please note, our events system does not allow us to transfer your booking to an alternative SDN event. Transfer to a later course will incur an additional charge of £100.00 (+VAT). This will be payable before you attend.
